Interior Designers bring in sunshine for spring 2010 – Rays of Light
Bring light into your room with avivid yellow. RMSer switchedonaudrey knows how to make a statement with her yellow and gray bedroom. From the circle artwork to the upholstered foot-board, every item in the room has a touch of sunshine.
Yellow is the color of flowers, lemons, and sunshine, offering fresh appeal in each of its many variations. With its versatile nature and sunny-side-up appeal, yellow is a popular choice for interiors. This color has a reputation for being tricky to use, because it has such a distinctive identity. Yellows such as pale citron or mellow ocher are usually easier to incorporate than high-voltage tones, like the one in the video above. Yellow can be hard to picture accurately, so it may take a few attempts before you find the shade you had in mind.
Yellow and gray go together like two peas in a pod, no matter how you mix them. It is good to mix textures when using this combination. To make sure that the intense yellow color is not too overpowering, it is toned down with white and gray in the room above. If there were other bright colored accessories added it would be too much for anyone’s senses.Again the polka dots are repeated in two different sizes.

TIP: When choosing paint color, lighting can make or break the room, especially when it comes to yellow. Halogen is your clearest whitest light showing the true tones of the color. Fluorescent bulbs or tubing and chandelier bulbs will camouflage the natural tone of color you have chosen. When choosing your color, make sure the color is desirable in natural light, adjusted for sunlight during the day as well as extra light from lighting fixtures for the evening..
