Reception is an important part of any bars, offices, restaurants and hotels. Generally reception furniture are massively different for the above industries. And you can easily spot the difference between an office reception and a hotel reception. These businesses will obviously be receiving people from the outside and the reception is definitely the first impression your guest will be having of your business.

Digital media companies around the UK have absolutely fabulous reception area. I went to one recently based in Birmingham, West Midlands, it had a bar with club furniture surrounding it, it was more like a mini bar. That was the first impression on me and I was very – very impressed. You only get once chance to make a good first impression.

I was inspired from that so I decided to change the way my office reception looks currently but with a slight twist. I decided to go for cafe furniture with comfortable sofas most cafes have. I also moved the small aquarium from the reception to my office and replaced it with american pool table. As we are a law firm we get very tensed and worried clients and bit of a pool and coffee will take them away from their worries for a bit and will also help the clients and us the experts to think properly with clear mind. We got really good feedbacks from our existing clients and we are certainly getting more and more new clients since the new reception has been in place. I have to say a big thank you to my receptionists because they helped me with lovely ideas.

Now the reception has the basic requirements of desk, chairs, coat rack, table and stuff but it also has a creative effect of a cafe with a pool table. I believed this change will definitely make our clients feel like at home and it certainly has. In a legal profession like ours we have to spend a lot of time in the reception because most of the time our meeting rooms are occupied. Now we can use the reception for our clients and just to add the fun even play a game of pool or two to get the deal on our side – great doing business with you.
